Remembrance Day Ceremonies
On November 11th, we remember.
Each year on November 11th at 11am, we usually gather in honour those who have served and sacrificed. This year, the COVID-19 pandemic is changing the way most Remembrance Day Ceremonies will run. Most ceremonies in Metro Vancouver have either been cancelled or the public is discouraged from attending services. However, there are a few livestreams you can watch and we've listed some below.
You can also visit legion.ca/remembrance/remembrance-day to find Remembrance Day ceremonies accross Canada. Other options to remember include wearing a poppy and taking a minute of silence on your own on November 11th at 11am.
The National Remembrance Day Ceremony in Ottawa
The Legion, on behalf of the people of Canada, organizes and conducts the National Remembrance Day service in Ottawa. New Westminster: Virtual Ceremony
In partnership with the New Westminster Royal Canadian Legion, The Royal Westminster Regiment and other community organizations, Remembrance Day for 2020 has been re-imagined to meet COVID-19 safety requirements and to provide the community with a safe way of honouring our veterans and their sacrifices. The community is encouraged to pay tribute to our veterans from home. Join us on Wednesday, November 11 for a virtual ceremony live-streamed online starting at 10:30 am.
Virtual Surrey Remembrance Day Online
The annual ceremony at the cenotaph in Cloverdale will take place virtually this year. Tune in to Facebook Live to pay your respects. A small group from the Cloverdale Legion will lay wreaths in an intimate ceremony to commemorate the day. In the interest of COVID-19 safety, the public is not invited to gather at Veterans Square. Instead, pay your respect by watching the small, live event on Facebook.
UBC’s Virtual Ceremony of Remembrance
