For those who are fans of trash pandas but aren’t quite brave enough to befriend a raccoon as your average house pet, we introduce the Raccoon Dog: It’s neither a raccoon or a dog. It’s a wild animal, best known as the mangut or tanuki, which can be found in East Asia. Raccoon Dogs belong to the canid family which does include dogs [and also wolves and foxes].
